By | Everyday Goddesses | No Comments

Modern Day Goddess Catherine EwingCatherine Ewing, LCSW, MDiv, is a Transformational Life Coach who creates a sacred container where women in midlife can take a personal journey of self-discovery, transformation and spiritual awakening.  Here each woman will discover the ancient wisdom of her heart and learn the language of her Soul. With Catherine's loving support, women release old traumas, unsupportive beliefs and emotional energy.  They learn to recognize their Divine nature, to love themselves and create lives of greater passion, purpose and authenticity.

What does being an Everyday Goddess mean to you?

Being an everyday Goddess means living your life with as much authenticity, transparency, self-love and heart-centered presence as possible.

It requires a commitment to knowing yourself deeply, recognizing your divinity, consistently working at clearing the cellular memory of any and all energy that constrains, limits or otherwise keeps us from shining our light and love into the world.  It is a process of balancing our energies so that we are holding and honoring both our masculine and feminine energies. Being am Everyday Goddess means that one is always asking the question, Who am I, what unique gifts to I bring, what do I want, what brings me joy?

At what age did you awaken to the presence of the Divine Feminine and would you describe it as a sudden awakening or a gentle unfolding?

I believe I have always had a special connection to the Divine Feminine.  As a child raised in the Catholic Faith I was connected to Mary, the Mother of Jesus.  As a young adult and while raising a family the connection was less clear.  In my 40s I began meditating regularly, became part of a Women's Circle that focused on the Divine Feminine in her various forms.  Going to Israel with a group of Spiritual Peacemakers and being ordained there further reawakened my memories of the Divine Feminine.  I've been part of a circle that works with the energies of Mary Magdalene and Jeshua for over 6 years now and that has further awakened the energies of the Divine Feminine within me.

What roles in your life had to transform in order for you to live authentically?

Perhaps the most significant role that had to transform was that of wife and full time mom.  I chose, after 30 years, to leave my marriage and to have my children stay with their father.  They were 14, 16 and 21 at the time. There's a lot more to say about that, but that's the short answer.  🙂

What have been some of the greatest inner gifts you’ve experienced since stepping into your feminine power?

It has been such an evolving process over the last 20 years that it's a little bit challenging to answer that question.  I'd say, overall, I am much more deeply grounded in my spirituality and my faith.  As I have let go of energies, beliefs, patterns that no longer serve me, I have become softer, more open, less judgmental, more forgiving, more trusting in the support of The Universe.  I attempt to live more from my heart than my mind; look for the good;  think, speak and act with far more consciousness and intention; and let my gifts and light shine in the world.

Can you share some of your favorite sacred feminine rituals?

I generally start my day with a few minutes of gratitude and appreciation, looking into the mirror and telling myself that I love me making sure to use my name, and I thank various body for how they have served me.  Then I go into a period of reading and meditation, usually lighting a candle and using essential oils, ending with a period of journaling.

Is there a particular Goddess that you are intimately drawn to and why?

I have been drawn both the Mary, the mother of Jeshua and Mary Magdalene.  I have been drawn to Mother Mary since I was a child, for her loving and open heart and unconditional love.  I have been drawn to Magdalene as an adult woman, once I began to read of her relationship with Jeshua.  I believe that she is the female embodiment of the Christ energy and a master teacher.

Is there a personal message that you would like to share with women?

I have worked with women in a variety of settings over a 35 year period and the overwhelming majority of these women have experienced childhood abuse, incest, severely dysfunctional families, sexual assault, domestic violence and abandonment.  As a result many have formed beliefs about themselves and developed ways of coping that are unhealthy in some way.  I want every woman to know that she is not crazy, worthless or unlovable.  That whatever beliefs she developed about herself or the world were the result of her life experience and make total sense within that context.  Whatever she was told, had beaten into her or came to believe as the truth, has nothing to do with the Truth of who she is as a beautiful, loveable spark of the Divine.  It's never too late to release all that is not serving her and step more fully into her authentic, joyful and abundant Self.

Everyday GODDESS: Debbie Dickinson

Debbi Dickinson

Debbi Dickinson is a Women’s Life and Confidence coach and is passionately dedicated to supporting women in awakening their inner Goddess and stepping into their power. One of her greatest joys in working with women is when witnesses her clients breakthrough and be able to clearly define their dreams, discover their life purpose and develop a step-by-step plan to achieve the life they want for themselves.

What does being an Everyday Goddess mean to you?

In my view an Everyday Goddess is a woman who is empowered and lives a life of purpose.  She intuitively knows how to integrate their various aspects of life to live in harmony.  A Goddess is one who makes her personal well-being a priority in her life so that she deeply loves herself.  A Goddess understands that she cannot give away what she does not have.

An Everyday Goddess is authentic; her self-worth is not measured by how others view her but how she views others.  She is present, filled with life goodness and others are naturally attracted to her goodness.  She is also a woman who takes deep pleasure out of being service to others.

At what age did you awaken to the presence of the Divine Feminine and would you describe it as a sudden awakening or a gentle unfolding?

At 41, it was with incredible emotional pain that I surrender to the miserable existence my life had become.  I had hit the bottom of my addiction and started climbing out of the deep hole I had created for myself.  Early in my sobriety, I also went through my divorce.  With my self-confidence stripped away and finding myself a divorced mother with a four year old; I had the willingness to do anything to change my life.

Angels came into my life and guided me on what right living was and how to live my life on purpose.   It is through this journey that I have rebuilt the confidence in my life; learned to live life like a loose garment and have learned to love the Goddess Debbi.  Today I live a life that has surpassed my dreams.  It is through this experience that I embrace other women who are in needing to build their confidence.

What roles in your life had to transform in order for you to live authentically?

Before my awakening, my life was shallow.  My life had the illusion of living the American Dream; but on the inside I was dying because it wasn't real.  My job had to change from consulting to working again in a corporation so that I could begin building relationships with people instead of moving to the next gig.

My role as a wife had to end due to years of emotional abuse in the marriage that could not be mended.  Since I did not love myself; I did not know how to love and nurture another.  Once I learned to love myself; I then learned to be vulnerable to accept the gift of love from another man.

My role as a mother changed to merely being a woman going through the motions of being a mother to one that was fully engaged in her beautiful daughter’s life.  Embracing life as a child does with wonderment and fully present to take in the delight of Mother Earth.

My role as a friend completely changed since I had no friends in my life of addiction.  I had managed to completely isolate myself.  I had to learn to trust and share with others what is going on in my life at a deep level.  It is through this that the gift of friendship with no strings attached has been given to me time and time again; I truly am grateful.

My role as a child of my higher power.  I had turned my back on my higher power.  In recovery, I learned that he never turned his back on me and when I was ready I stepped into his loving embrace.  Living authentically, I intentionally carve out time each day to be with my higher power through prayer and meditation.

What have been some of the greatest inner gifts you’ve experienced since stepping into your feminine power?

To live a life with peace and serenity that surpasses all understanding.  Appreciation of being present to witness the magic of our world.  To learn to deeply love myself and the woman I've become.  I also take incredible delight in watching my teenage daughter blossom into a beautiful young woman.  As the example she emulates, she has embraced her power and demonstrates strong confidence and purpose.

Can you share some of your favorite sacred feminine rituals?

Prayer and meditation for they give my soul rest and allow me space for me to create.  Coffee with girl friends just to enjoy the sheer delight of being with other powerful women.  Vacationing with my daughter to new destinations; I through enjoy our girl time together and showing her how to appreciate the incredible world we live in.

Is there a particular Goddess that you are intimately drawn to and why?

Goddess Shanda who is deeply spiritual and guides me on my journey of building my business; she lives on purpose and continuously stretches me to reach the potential I was put on the earth to serve.  There is also Goddess Cindee for whom I am ever grateful for she extended her hand to me when I was in the pit of my despair and pulled me out.  She taught me the tools and guided me on the principles of right living which are the foundation of the life I Iive today.

Is there a personal message that you would like to share with women?

You are deserving of living the life that you were intended to live.  You are deserving of being loved the way you want to be loved. It is time for you to get clarity on your dreams; purge your life of the resistance and limiting beliefs that are holding you back.  It is time for you to step into joy and become the Goddess you were meant to be.
