New Moon in Taurus

By | Goddess Wisdom, Walk the Path, Wisdom Blog | No Comments

This continues a series of posts on working with Moon energy. Each New Moon and Full Moon, I will post suggestions for working with that archetype and harness the energy of the Moon’s cycle.

New Moon Energy

The new moon is a time of new beginnings, a time when you plant the seeds you wish to harvest over the next month. Yet, do not neglect to let go of what no longer serves before you plant those seeds. It does no good to plant seeds in a barren desert. So the night before each new moon, in the dark of the moon, I like to hold a release ceremony. Some questions to ponder might be:

  • What do you need to release before moving forward with this new moon cycle?
  • What patterns have you been holding on to that no longer serve?

Once you have let go of the old, it’s time to set your intentions for this moon cycle. I do this on the night of the New Moon. Some questions to ponder might be:

  • What do I wish to create over the next month (from New Moon to New Moon)?
  • What do I need to allow my creations to come into light?

New Moon in Taurus

Taurus is an Earth sign, and Taureans are very practical people. They are patient and carefully deliberate any decisions before making them. They check and double check; assess and reassess before moving forward. They are also very reliable and dependable, and may find themselves taken advantage of as everyone relies on them to get things done. But, they can also be a bit “bull-headed” or stubborn and sometimes cling to old ideals, even if they are not in their best interest. This New Moon is reminding us to get our ducks in a row, decide what we want to toss and what we want to keep moving forward.

So what does this mean for working with the New Moon energy? You can add the energy of Taurus to your New Moon reflections by asking yourself the following questions:

  • What is going well and what is not going so well in my life right now?
  • Do I feel safe and secure? Is my foundation solid in all areas of my life or do some areas need shoring up?
  • What could use a perspective shift in my life? Where have I gotten stuck in my ways?
  • What do I want to retain moving forward and what do I want to let go of?
  • Am I taking good care of myself? Am I keeping my cup full? If not, what do I most need to do to take better care of me?
  • What needs a dose of strength in my life? How can I be my own supporter and comforter?

Enjoy working with the New Moon energy in Taurus! It should be a powerful time for re-assessment so you can gain clarity and take a big leap toward your dreams in 2017!

How Do I Reconnect with My Inner Goddess?

By | Goddess Wisdom, Walk the Path, Wisdom Blog | No Comments

I was talking with a client the other day who feels very disconnected from who she is and is on a journey to find herself. She said that, in some ways, she feels like she is living someone else’s life, merely going through the motions. I get it. I’ve been there (see today’s video for more of my story).

Regardless of how you became disconnected from yourself – for me, it was decades of being a “good girl” and doing what I thought I “should” do – the question remains: how do I connect back in with my inner goddess? With myself?

Before I answer that question, I think it’s important to get clear on who this inner goddess is. To me, your inner goddess is your connection with the divine feminine essence/the creator of all things. If inner goddess doesn’t work for you, you may like to think of this as your woman’s intuition, inner guide, or feminine knowing – the inner wisdom that all women share. All of us have a connection to the feminine divine – it is within us, part of our soul. It’s your willingness to collaborate, your unbounded creativity, intuition, nurturing, courage, inner strength, and wisdom beyond your years. It’s the feminine part of you that can heal yourself.

Your Inner Goddess is you, but she is you at the core of who you are. She is all of your potential. She is the woman you were meant to be. She cares little for what other people think. She listens to the music of her soul and she dances to it. She has walked through fire and emerged, if not unscathed, truly victorious. She has cried, had her heart broken, and known the depths of loss and pain. But instead of allowing herself to be overcome by them, she has used these challenges to grow, to strengthen her resolve, her belief in herself.

She is your intuition, your inner knowing, your connection to and embodiment of the Divine Feminine. She is your beauty. She is your light. She is your truth. She wants what’s best for you; yet, she also wants you to live your Soul’s Purpose. She wants you to shine your light and be a beacon of hope for others. She wants you to stop hiding.

This may seem like a daunting task, and it can certainly feel that way. Yet, your inner goddess is here to guide you every step of the way. All you have to do is to take that first step and trust in God/Universe, in yourself.

In today’s video, I offer 3 ways you can begin to connect in with your inner goddess and blossom into the woman you were meant to be.

Blossoming into You: Nourish the Seeds You Planted Earlier in the Year

By | Goddess Wisdom, Walk the Path, Wisdom Blog | No Comments

“From the seed grows a root, then a sprout; from the sprout, seedling leaves; from the leaves, the stem; around the stem, the branches; at the top, the flower… We cannot say that the seed causes the growth, nor that the soil does. We can say that the potentialities for growth lie within the seed, and mysterious life forces, which, when properly fostered, take on certain forms.” – M.C. Richards

Aaahhh April. In Idaho, that's the month that can't decide whether it wants to be sunny and warm or 20 and snowing. It's what I call the “hurry up and wait” month. My lilies are trying to bloom, but keep getting frostbite. I have big plans for my summer, but still have 6 more weeks of school until I get there. I want to do 10 things, but really only have time for one.

We were taking about this is one of my group coaching programs the other day. We wish we were “there,” or at least further ahead than where we are now. We keep feeling like we're getting off track, but we were really never on track to begin with. We want to be done with our growth and healing, yet, life happens and sometimes there are more lessons we need to learn about a particular topic we thought we were done with.

For many of us, the energies of April bring a feeling of excitement and uncertainty at the same time. We may know where we want to go, or what our end goal is, but we're not quite sure how to get there. Or maybe we don't know where we're going and that's the frustrating part.

Instead of rushing to get nowhere or getting derailed by “bright shiny object” syndrome, breathe. Trust that it will all unfold in due time. Easier said than done, huh? So while we are in the midst of this “hurry up and wait” energy, what can you do?

  1. Assess where you are – think about all the different areas of your life. Identify what’s working well and what’s not working so well right now. Then take a deep dive to figure out why some things are working and some aren’t. No blame or shame here, this is just an honest assessment.
  2. Figure out what you want – where do you want to be a year from now? 5 years from now? If you don’t know yet, that’s okay. Start smaller. Where do you want to be 1 month from now? 3 months? 6 months? What are your short-term and longer-term goals?
  3. Pick one area of your life or one goal you want to focus on – that’s right. One area/goal. (See today’s video for my reasoning on that one.)
  4. Set mini goals for yourself each week that will bring you one step closer to that bigger goal – again, set no more than a couple of mini goals each week. These mini goals need to feel – and be – doable without feeling overwhelming.
  5. Take exquisite care of you – you have to nourish these metaphorical seeds that you are planting. Just like my poor frostbitten lilies, if you start out with too much, too soon, you may not achieve your goal. Take it slow and take care of you.
  6. Realize that growth takes time – see the M.C. Richards quote above. It won't happen overnight, but as long as you take baby steps in the right direction and take care of you, it will happen. When you feel like you're getting off track, sprinkle a heavy dose of self-compassion in there. You are making progress. Even when it feels like you're taking two steps forward and three steps back, as long as that process is getting to you re-evaluate and learn, then you are making progress.
  7. Breathe and trust that it will all work out – after all, you are well on your way!

If you are feeling the call to do more or be more – or if you’re not sure where you’re going – I invite you to join me for my free coaching call: Blossoming Into You: Activate Your Inner Goddess. On the call, I will walk you through the process of identifying your “big goals” and help you carve out a plan to get there. The time is now. Join us!

Reconnecting with Your Intuition: Finding Wisdom in the Silent Moments

By | Goddess Wisdom, Walk the Path, Wisdom Blog | No Comments

I was talking with one of my students about a decision she was trying to make the other day. Debating over which graduate school to choose or if she should take a year off, she came to me for guidance.

“What does your heart say?” I asked her.

“Well I made a pro and con list,” she explained, “and they're about equal.”

“No,” I countered. “Not your head or your ego mind. What does your heart say?”

She looked dumbfounded, as though she wasn't even quite sure what I meant. She finally said, “I don't know,” and went on to tell me about the advice her grandmother had given her.

I feel her pain. I too used to be so disconnected from my heart space/inner goddess/intuition that I didn't really know the difference between what my heart said and what my head said. But over the years, I've begun to understand just how invaluable that heart wisdom is and how, when I listen to and trust that intuition, things usually turn out much better than when I ignore my inner goddess and follow the guidance of my head/ego mind or what others think or tell me to do.

But how do you know the difference? How do you begin to reconnect with that inner source of guidance? For me, it was a conscious decision to begin checking in with myself on a daily basis (and no, this process doesn’t require a ton of time). The more I did so, the more I began to check in on a daily basis, the more I learned that there is wisdom and beauty in those still, silent moments. Those moments not only fill my cup, but provide me with the answers I seek to guide me to make decisions that will result in manifesting what I want to bring to my life so I can be of more service to the world.

In today's video, I discuss the different ways your intuition might appear in your life and how to know the difference between your heart wisdom and your ego mind.

If you want to learn more, I invite you to join our Sacred Circle, where this month's topic is Reconnecting with Your Intuition.

Learning to Love Yourself Again: Stop the Comparison Game

By | Goddess Wisdom, Wisdom Blog | No Comments

There was a time in my life, actually for most of my life, that I would have vehemently disagreed with that statement. Happiness comes from being of service, from giving. Right? That’s certainly what I was taught as I child. Yet, as I got older I realized that while happiness can come from giving and being of service, there’s more to it than that. While I love giving to others and feeling like I’m being of service, what I’ve learned over the years is that if I give and give and give, never taking the time to replenish myself, I end up feeling bitter, resentful, and exhausted – far from being happy.

Everything changed for me the year I turned 40. I had just gotten divorced and was truly alone for the first time in my life. Having gotten married at a young age, I literally went from my father’s house to my husband’s house. As I grieved the loss of my 21-year marriage, I realized something profound: I had been miserable in the last years of that marriage because I didn’t love myself. I had grown bitter and resentful toward my ex-husband because I didn’t love myself. I had stayed in an unhappy, dysfunctional relationship for far too many years because I didn’t love myself.

It became clear that I needed to learn to love myself, but I had no idea how. I read books, listened to telesummits, and gleaned bits of wisdom here and there. But ultimately, learning to love myself was an experiment – trial and error – to figure out what worked for me.

There were many things I learned along my journey to self-love, and I want to share one of the most important lessons with you today. If you’re going to learn to love yourself, you have to stop the negative self-talk, stop the comparison game.

By picking apart at ourselves, in thought, word, and deed, we are not showing our bodies, minds, or spirits the love and respect they deserve. Yet, we do it anyway… This might be one of the toughest things I’ve asked you to do yet, but this step is critical to learning to love yourself again.

In today’s video, I’m giving you an exercise to do. This exercise occurs in three stages:

  1. Noticing – how often do you say, think, engage in any type of negative self-talk or negative self-comparison?
  2. Reducing – when you catch yourself thinking something negative about yourself, envision a stop sign or cancel button. Refocus your energy on something else, distract yourself, or tell yourself, “No, that’s not true.” Or, “I promised myself not to say those things to myself anymore.”
  3. Replacing – actively replace all negative thoughts, words, and behaviors with positive ones. I’ve got more in today’s video about how to do that.

Yes, you can learn to love yourself again. The first step is to stop criticizing yourself all the time so you can begin to believe you are worthy of your own love. If you are ready to transform your relationship with yourself even further, join us for the self-love revolution.
