Everyday GODDESS: Dina Proctor

What does being am Everyday Goddess mean to you?

Love this question! For me, being an everyday goddess is to live fully my innermost essence of love, peace and ultimate well-being in my physical life. It’s knowing that I am one with the Universe and connected to all of life. It’s seeing the soul-essence in everyone I meet. It’s surrendering old limiting beliefs and judgments and seeing the world from the fresh perspective of curiosity, ceaseless optimism, and the great knowing that anything I want to create in my world (from my body to relationships to fulfillment and abundance) starts with my own mindset and reflects outward from there.


At what age did you awaken to the presence of the Divine Feminine and would you describe it as a sudden awakening or a gentle unfolding?

I was a late bloomer! I remember exactly when my awakening experience happened – it was February 2009 and I was 32 years old. Mine was a rather sudden awakening – just weeks earlier I was in suicidal depression and hopelessly addicted to alcohol. I thought there was no hope for myself or my life, I had tried everything I could think of to fix myself, and I just wanted to escape my inner anguish. About 8 weeks after I began meditating (which for me was 3 minutes at a time) I found myself in what I can only describe as a state of higher consciousness for a 3-day period that February. During those days I was super-present in each moment, my conscious awareness was literally above and outside my body, and I had absolutely zero mind chatter. It was a state of deep, bottomless bliss, and I fell in love with everyone I met because all I could see were their soul-essences. I was let in on the secrets of life during those 3 days and it was an unforgettable and unmistakable turning and transformation point for my life.


What roles in your life had to transform in order for you to live authentically?

For me the question is: What roles haven’t I transformed?! I can’t name an aspect of my life that hasn’t completely transformed in the last five years. I have a brand new outlook and perspective on life. I am a different person in my relationships, I have access to an inner freedom I never even knew was possible, and (for the first time in my life) have a healthy perspective on my body and food. I am no longer plugging my power cord into food, men, alcohol and money – I know the only place I can find empowerment and fulfillment is by plugging into the Source of eternal peace, wisdom and joy within – and even better – I know exactly how to do it!


What have been some of the greatest inner gifts you’ve experienced since stepping into your feminine power?

Inner peace is the biggest gift I’ve received. If I knew it was possible to feel this happy and peaceful on a daily basis I never would have used alcohol to numb myself. I’m the happiest person I know! I love my life and I’m living a dream I never even knew I had. Who knew I was a writer? Who knew I would leave the shame of my past behind and use it to teach others? Who knew I would find the courage to leave the security of my day job to start my own coaching business? I’m finally coming to realize how to have a life where dreams not only come true but completely exceed your expectations!

Can you share some of your favorite sacred feminine rituals?

My favorite time of day is the early, early morning. I love waking up before the sun, and before anyone else. Those first silent sacred moments are mine alone, and I deeply connect to my inner wisdom during those sacred moments in a way that shapes my entire day. I also love slow walks, connecting with trees and flowers, stretching my body’s muscles in simple yoga poses, and I love the ritual of making and enjoying tea. But by far, I think my favorite and most powerful ritual is my 3×3 Meditation practice.


Is there a particular Goddess that you are intimately drawn to and why?

Mother Teresa is my biggest inspiration! I love that by intention and prayer alone she became a great force for good in this world. She is a phenomenal example of using your inner power and wisdom to create real change and tangible results in the world.


Is there a personal message that you would like to share with women?  

Yes, yes, YES! I would love for women to know that no matter where you are, no matter what’s happened, no matter where you’ve been or what you’ve done, it can always get better. I was stuck in clinical depression for years and part of me wouldn’t have believed these words just five short years ago. But I know -and am living proof!- that you can transform any aspect of your life you’d like to by using small pockets of time and your ability to focus on your center of higher wisdom, to create absolutely ANYTHING you want for your life!
