Blossoming Into My Passion and Purpose

By | Goddess Wisdom, Walk the Path, Wisdom Blog | No Comments

blossom into yourselfThis past Friday, I had the opportunity to be a guest on a new webinar series called Blossoming Women. You can watch the replay here. On the show, I was talking about how I came to find my own higher purpose, and how I know that part of that purpose is shining my light to be a beacon for other women.

The Dalai Lama once said the world will be saved by the Western woman. I think what he meant is that the more women who awaken to themselves and their true purpose, the better the world will be. We women are the nurturers, bringers of light. And if we don't believe in ourselves, no one else will. So it's important that you believe in you. That you love you.

I didn't always understand this. And even after I understood it, it was still difficult for me to practice what I preached sometimes.

This past summer was a perfect example of this. Having exhausted myself by working 50 to 60 hours a week during the academic term in the Spring, I was so burned out by Summer, that I didn't dedicate myself to my business like I usually do. Instead, I took much of the summer off, just doing the bare minimum to keep things flowing for the business.

I knew it was important for me to do this mini personal retreat even though I didn't know why at the time. I just knew that something big was coming, unfolding for me. As July turned into August, I began to get glimpses of what it was going to be. And I'm pretty darn excited about it.

I'm being called, like many women are right now, to finally and firmly, once and for all, own the woman I am meant to be. To step into my power and walk the path I am meant to walk. To speak my truth like the Goddess and Priestess I am being called to become.

It means not holding back, not hiding in the shadows for fear of offending someone. It means saying what you need to say, not to be mean, but to respect everyone involved, including yourself. It means doing what is best for you and honors you. It means taking exquisite care of you because you can't serve from an empty cup. It means listening to your inner voice of wisdom and acting from that place, trusting yourself and your intuition.

While all of that may seem challenging for you right now, know that over time you too can learn to walk in your path and fully love and trust yourself. September, the month when Summer turns to Fall in the Northern Hemisphere, is powerful month of letting go so that opportunities that have been waiting to open for you can finally be shown to you. If I've learned nothing else over the past few years, it's that you've got to let go of the baggage you’re lugging with you before you can step into that new doorway. Sometimes it's scary, stepping into the unknown. But know that if in your heart it feels right, then it is right.

And that's what happened for me this Summer. I got quiet; I listened to my heart, my inner voice of wisdom. And it told me I need to start doing things differently. That I needed to connect in with myself more and start leading from my heart. That I needed to listen to my Soul's calling, trust in myself more, and move from that place.

So I did. It wasn't always comfortable; it still isn't. But I have a deep sense of knowing and trust that everything is unfolding for me exactly as it should.

I was led to do three things this Fall. The first, in case you missed it, was the Sticky Note Challenge. The second is going to be a free 7-day Love Your Body, Nourish Your Temple challenge I will be launching the last week in September. I will also be unfolding a new group coaching program in October and one in Spring 2017.

As a Virgo, this waiting patiently and allowing the process to unfold has been frustrating at times. But I am so excited to see what comes of all of this and what is going to be in store for me next.

I'd love to hear in the comments below.

Featured GODDESS: Ostara

ostara

Ostara

Goddess of the Radiant Dawn

“Spring is here! It’s time to come out from hibernation, release old ties, and celebrate new beginnings.”

Traits Ostara Embodies:

  • Rebirth
  • Rejuvenation
  • Dawn
  • Fertility
  • Awakening

How to call on Ostara:

Although Ostara’s parentage is up for grabs, one thing is clear: with her trusty hare as her sidekick and the egg as her symbol of fertility, the Anglo Saxon goddess Ostara’s traditions were adopted by the Christian church and renamed Easter. After all, everyone loves bunnies and colored eggs, so why mess with a good thing? Regardless, Ostara is the Goddess of the Spring Equinox, when the days are becoming longer than the nights, the light overtakes the dark. This is a perfect time to dust off the cobwebs of winter, come out of hibernation, and set your intentions for what you want to manifest this Spring.

Prayer to Ostara:

Ostara, Goddess of the Radiant Dawn,

Queen of Spring,

Bringer of Light,

Hear my Prayers

In this time of awakening,

I call upon you.

I ask for your help with releasing ______ [insert your issue]

So that I may manifest ______ [insert your issue] in the coming months.

In this I pray,

Thank you, Ostara!

Tribute to Ostara:

Like Easter traditions? Ostara loves them! Have some deviled eggs, chocolate, and pet a bunny. Ostara will surely smile upon you.

What does being an Everyday Goddess mean to you?

If I was going to describe an everyday goddess in one sentence, I would say that she is a woman who connects with and shines her light in the world. To many of us getting to that place isn’t easy – if it ever happens – because it is not something we are generally taught while growing up. Connecting with your light requires going within, discovering your talents, purpose, passion – your true self – and then going without, sharing your gifts in the world. Both going within and going without takes dedication, perseverance, and courage. My spirit helper mentions some other important aspects of this in my guest article on your website.

At what age did you awaken to the presence of the Divine Feminine and would you describe it as a sudden awakening or a gentle unfolding?

I have always had a yearning; a feeling that something was missing; a striving to become whole. You could say it has been an unfolding, generally not gentle, but slow and at times painful. I guess that is where my stubbornness, or you could say perseverance, comes in handy, because it has prevented me from giving up.

What roles in your life had to transform in order for you to live authentically?

In order to live authentically I have had to move past my shyness and develop the courage to take action and be ‘visible’. The biggest transformation has happened since I have begun to take action. I discovered that waiting until everything was in place and perfect won’t get me anywhere, and that I am in charge of my own life.

What have been some of the greatest inner gifts you’ve experienced since stepping into your feminine power?

Since stepping into my feminine power – or as I also like to describe it – stepping into my true self and beginning to shine my light in the world – I feel more in charge of my life; my life has more meaning; I’m definitely more creative, and it is a good feeling to be able make a positive difference in the lives of humans and animals.

Can you share some of your favorite sacred feminine rituals?

To me it is very important to do yoga and meditation in the morning. It prepares me physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. I have a program that I like and have done for years. Another thing that is an important part of my life is to connect with my spirit helpers, often through shamanic journeys. And although I might not characterize it as rituals, spending time in nature and going for walks is an essential part of my life.

Is there a particular Goddess that you are intimately drawn to and why?

The Goddess of Compassion (Kuan Yin) has been the most important Goddess for me. She showed up often in my early shamanic journeys and sometimes still does. My main power animal is also an embodiment of compassion – that’s the best way I can describe it. He teaches me constantly about compassion.

In a recent journey my power animal said: “In order to embody and walk to path of compassion, you need to accept your whole being – that means all aspects of yourself, including the so-called negative traits like, for instance, anger. When you start on the path of compassion, all your issues, blocks and whatever has been preventing or stopping you from being and expressing your true self, will come up. They need to be seen and dealt with, so you can move beyond them. It is not about suppressing but accepting, watching, moving through into a place where you are You. Ultimately it is about becoming a whole being. It’s about shining your light. And while all lights come from the same source, they all have different qualities and express different qualities of the one. Compassion is one of them, and it happens to be yours.”

So it is not a choice, as such, on my part, but more of a natural unfolding, because that’s what happens in my journeys. I have discovered that I learn what I need to learn.

Is there a personal message that you would like to share with women?

That would be to emphasize the importance of incorporating into your life a daily physical and spiritual practice, for example, yoga or Zhan zhuang (standing Qigong). Make it a daily ritual. Work on your whole self. And stop trying to be perfect. Develop the courage to take action – even if only baby steps. If you can’t see where you are going, remember that when you take a step, the next step will reveal itself.

Everyday GODDESS: Linda Joy

By | Everyday Goddesses | No Comments

Linda Joy 250x300Linda Joy is on a mission. A mission fueled by the lessons learned and the wisdom and insights gained on her transformational twenty two year journey from single welfare mom and queen of self-sabotage to heart-centered visionary and inspirational catalyst.

As publisher of Aspire Magazine, the premiere inspirational magazine for women, host of Inspired Living Secrets and the bestselling publisher behind Inspired Living Publishing, Ms. Joy’s passion permeates all of her inspirational multi-media brands – each brand dedicated to supporting and empowering women with a Universal message of hope, love and self-empowerment.

What does being an Everyday Goddess mean to you?

Being an everyday goddess means being committed to the walking the path of authenticity, self-empowerment and inner healing. It means trusting and following the calling of my soul and doing the inner work to heal and release the layers of self-doubt, shame and old stories that keep me from embracing the truth of who I am. It is understanding that as I step into my power and truth as an everyday goddess I empower other women in owning their truth. Being an everyday goddess means staying connected to my heart center, honoring my truth and being of service to the world with my unique gifts and presence. It means holding a space of love and compassion for others on the path.

At what age did you awaken to the presence of the Divine Feminine and would you describe it as a sudden awakening or a gentle unfolding?

Looking back over the last twenty-two years of my spiritual and self-empowerment journey I would have to describe it as a gentle unfolding. Each step I took along my sacred path allowed me to heal and release layers of old wounds that had kept me separate from my truth. As I continued along the path of healing, which continues today, I have been able to own my truth, tune into and trust my inner guidance and live my life from the inside-out. Over the last three years I have felt an accelerated energy guiding and supporting me in deep inner work and has also led to meeting, connecting with and supporting other women sharing this sacred journey. At 51 I feel more at peace in my life and in myself as a woman than I ever have and that’s my deepest desire for all women.

What roles in your life had to transform in order for you to live authentically?

The most important role that I’ve had to transform in my life has been my relationship with myself – on a physical, spiritual and emotional level. Through that transformation I came to the understanding that until I truly loved, honored, and nourished myself as a woman I was not able to accept the same from others. As I healed, my relationships and roles were magically transformed or released as needed and each one became an energetic match aligned with my heart and truth. I’ve seen this happen time and time again in women’s lives as they healed and learned to embrace their truth their outer relationships began to support the new energy they radiated. It begins within!

What have been some of the greatest inner gifts you’ve experienced since stepping into your feminine power?

The greatest inner gifts that I’ve experienced have been the lightness of spirit and deep joy that I feel in my heart. No matter what outside circumstances are whirling around me I have found a sacred place within that grounds me in peace and love that I can turn to at any time. My intuition and connection to Source have never been stronger and I have found that in honoring each of those connections on a daily basis, I am able to live my life from a place of inner strength and peace.

Can you share some of your favorite sacred feminine rituals?

One of my favorite rituals is lighting my favorite incense, listening to Karen Drucker’s beautiful song/mantra “I am so Blessed” and sitting quietly allowing myself to bask in the love. As an avid reader, another ritual that feeds my soul is to begin and end each day reading from an inspirational book – whether it’s sacred text or the newest book from a favorite spiritual or personal development author I find nourishment in their words.

Is there a particular Goddess that you are intimately drawn to and why?

Not at this time, but there are two Goddess cards (from my Doreen Virtue deck) that I have consistently pulled for the last three years – Dana: Manifestation, Alchemy and Divine Magic and Hathor: Allowing yourself to receive and nurturing yourself. I’ve been feeling led to delve deeper into the meaning and energy of these Goddess energies and look forward to the journey.

Is there a personal message that you would like to share with women?

My message to every woman is this… YOU have access to all that you need to heal, transform, and thrive in your life. The inner peace, self-love, and validation you are searching for cannot be found ‘outside’ of yourself (believe me, I’ve tried) the key is within you – always has been. Begin by giving yourself permission to honor your truth and the calling of your soul. Forgive yourself for your past, and give yourself permission to receive all the love, abundance and radiant health that you deserve. When you begin the journey inward you too will awaken the goddess within.

“The wisdom of the feminine …” – Llewellyn Vaughan-Lee

By | Goddess Inspirations | No Comments

“The wisdom of the feminine is so important, because the feminine understands the dynamics of relationship, how to listen and be receptive. Feminine consciousness is more attuned to the life of the body, and so knows the rhythms that belong to the cycles of life, rather than the systems imposed by will that are presently strangling our world. The feminine is more instinctively and naturally attuned to life, its patterns and powers. And feminine consciousness is less dominated by reason, more open to the mystery of the symbolic inner world. The feminine is vital in this work of awakening.”

~ Llewellyn Vaughan-Lee

“The feminine has deep understanding…” – Llewellyn Vaughan-Lee

By | Goddess Inspirations | No Comments

“The feminine has deep understanding of the power of matter. Women carry the instinctual knowing of the divine substance in matter and of how to bring this substance into life, because this knowledge is fundamental in the process of giving birth, in bringing a soul into human form. Now this wisdom is needed for the regeneration of the earth, for the earth’s awakening.”

Everyday GODDESS: Lisa Marie Rosati

By | Everyday Goddesses | No Comments

Modern Day Goddess: Lisa Marie RosatiPassionista Lisa Marie Rosati is the Creatrix of The Goddess Lifestyle Plan and Owner of Smithtown Weight Loss.  Lisa mentors women on how to properly nourish and take care of their sacred body vessel, utilize archetypal energies, alchemy, universal laws, and their divine feminine power to consciously create a luscious goddess life or lucrative business. Sound juicy? Oh yes, it is! To bring some feminine magic into your life.

What does being an Everyday Goddess mean to you?

An everyday goddess is a woman who has learned to completely love herself; her shadow side and light. She is a glorious and divine work in progress constantly on her learning path, using alchemy at will to turn lead into gold. She consciously creates her life as she wants it to be, combining practical strategies with universal laws, the flow of nature, feminine magic and archetypal energy. She is authentic in every way, no apologies and no comparisons … she lives each day deeply rooted in her truth.

At what age did you awaken to the presence of the Divine Feminine and would you describe it as a sudden awakening or a gentle unfolding?

My path to the Divine Feminine was a gentle unfolding over the course of my lifetime. For as long as I remember, I’ve been a seeker. I’ve always had a connection to the goddess, nature and the moon. I remember when I was about 8 or 9 years old, my Nani would pray and light candles to a statue of the Madonna she had on the dresser in her bedroom. So beautiful… I spent my teens and early twenties reading sacred texts from all religions. I was always passionate about religion, mysticism and spirituality. The older I got, the more the Divine Feminine became part of my life and how I lived. I could no longer deny my need for her and my life’s purpose. My life has already soared beyond my wildest dreams by allowing my divine feminine intuition to guide me; I can’t wait to see what she has in store for me in the future!

What roles in your life had to transform in order for you to live authentically?

I had to let go of the need to please every one else, I had to be okay with upsetting my parents, I had to let go of the need to be a perfect mother and wife or anything else. I’m perfectly imperfect, period. I’m me and I love who I am and who I see in the mirror. I had to transform fear into courage, follow my bliss and take many leaps of faith. I had to believe that the good stuff was meant for me too. And I did. And here I am.

What have been some of the greatest inner gifts you’ve experienced since stepping into your feminine power?

The most profound inner gift I’ve experienced is emotional freedom and a comfort in my own skin that is indescribable. I no longer have to create reasons or excuses for why I feel the way I do. I laugh with more abandon, I love deeper and I live comparison free; I can look at a beautiful or successful woman and be in awe of her magnificence and accomplishments. I can tell her how beautiful or how awesome she is without feeling like it takes anything away from me. I feel secure with my place on this earthly plane. My soul always burns a little bit brighter when I discover or meet a woman who is living her truth. The Divine Feminine ascension is happening right here and right now on the planet and I’m just so honored to be part of it! I’m getting chills up and down my body just writing this!

Can you share some of your favorite sacred feminine rituals?

A bubble bath with essential oils, digging in my garden, laughing with my friends, luxuriating, basking in the light of the full moon, counting stars, witnessing my children belly laugh, making love to my husband, sipping on a cocktail, going to the beach and watching the waves come in and out at dusk, nature busy at work (butterflies, bumble bees, lady bugs), a lazy Sunday morning with my family, movie night, helping women find their truth. Those are things that fill my vessel; they’re all simple and perfect.

Is there a particular Goddess that you are intimately drawn to and why?

Athena is the goddess I’m working with at the moment. She is the Greek Goddess of Wisdom, Combat and Strategy. She has many interesting character traits and I notice a lot of her archetypal energy within me. I am intimately drawn to Kali, the Hindu mother goddess, symbol of dissolution and destruction. She destroys ignorance, maintains the world order, and blesses and frees those who strive for the knowledge of God/Goddess. Kali destroys ignorance and I feel my purpose in life is to help dispel the ignorance that is floating around about the Divine Feminine.

Is there a personal message that you would like to share with women?

I envision our world filled with love, abundance, peace and harmony and I know as each woman awakens to the Divine Feminine the sacred energy will strengthen and grow further restoring balance. If you open your heart to the Divine Feminine, your life will blossom in ways you could never imagine, your joy will deepen and the world will become a more beautiful place. I invite you to discover the Divine Feminine and the goddess that dwells within you.

Everyday GODDESS: Shann Vander Leek

By | Everyday Goddesses | No Comments

Modern Day Goddess: Shann Vander Leek

Shann Vander Leek is the founder of True Balance International, co-creator of Anxiety Slayer, author of Life on Your Terms, and the Sacred Heart Teachings. Shann coaches women in transition who are ready to reclaim their feminine sovereignty and transform their precious lives. She guides women through the exploration of self-study, self-care and sacred feminine ritual.  She is a mama, author, entrepreneur, artist, and mentor to the goddesses who are attracted to her transformational work.

What does being an Everyday Goddess mean to you?

In my experience, everyday goddesses are full of light, compassion and loving kindness. We are often in the process of creating more joy, peace and grace in our lives. We are confident, courageous and supportive of other women. We are capable of becoming whomever we wish to be, and we're not afraid to do the work that needs to be done to heal our precious hearts. Everyday Goddesses are bold, charming and beautiful inside and out. We are often unconventional, silly, sexy, and fun. We are lovers of beautiful people, places and things.

Everyday Goddesses are ready to claim (or have claimed) personal creativity, grace and feminine sovereignty. We are willing to trust and surrender to the process of our divinely feminine unfolding. We allow and receive moments of compassionate self-care to balance out all of the loving energy we generously gift to others.

At what age did you awaken to the presence of the Divine Feminine and would you describe it as a sudden awakening or a gentle unfolding?

I don't recall a specific age that I opened to the Divine Feminine. Mother Mary has been a prominent Divine Feminine part of my life since I was a youngling. I would describe my relationship with the Goddess as a gentle (and sometimes not so gentle) unfolding. The biggest shift in awareness came after the birth of my young daughter. A sacred knowing or astuteness accompanies the first foray into motherhood. Children have a way of smacking you upside the head with an enormous dose of what is truly critical. The miracle of child birth became the catalyst for my complete lifestyle transformation through the awareness that my strong Divine Masculine was ready to be balanced with my Divinely Feminine unfolding.

What roles in your life had to transform in order for you to live authentically?

Almost 7 years ago, I made one of the most important decisions in my life. I left Corporate America to give my entrepreneurial calling a shot.  While home on maternity leave I was watching a morning news program and became drawn to an interview with a professional life coach. The attraction was profound. I contacted the television station for more information, found a local coach to talk with, and began to learn about the business of professional coaching.

When I returned to my career, the coaching process became my revitalized way to lead my sales force. Coaching in the sales environment, gave me tons of practical experience for what would be my true calling.

Eventually the high stress levels of being a corporate creature and doing business in someone else’s boardroom was losing its appeal. Even though my career path resulted in the realization of my goals and dreams, I became completely disinterested in corporate culture and, unwilling to jump through any more flaming circus hoops for money.

It’s amusing, and disheartening, when you realize your dedication, smart work, energy, – all the things you put into your career daily – are ONLY for the sake of performing a duty and receiving a paycheck. This new found awareness helped cement my corporate world exit strategy. It was time to let go of the illusion of control that the “big bucks” created.  No longer a company creature; my job was surely destroying my soul.

My priority became taking an inventory of my life and consciously creating a new way of living and being.  I was in desperate need of compassionate self-care and wanted to be a healthier role model for my daughter.

A friend recommended yoga as a healthy activity to lower my stress levels and get in touch with my body again. I sampled a class and from the first relaxing breath to the final shavasana, I was hooked. Practicing yoga dramatically began to improve my life. In the years I have been interested in, studying and currently teaching Luscious Living Yoga Playshops; I have reinvented myself and have learned how to rock my Goddess life.

What have been some of the greatest inner gifts you’ve experienced since stepping into your feminine power?

Awareness, mindfulness and gentleness. I am learning to be gentle with myself by honoring my natural rhythms. Nurturing my body, mind and soul with a regular yoga practice helps me get in touch with who I am on a deeper level. I've learned to be gentle with myself through restorative poses. Tuning into my breath and how I feel while moving my body is a gift. Practicing yoga improves my body consciousness and helps me remain flexible and peaceful. I delight in creating yoga class recordings, guided meditations and teaching yoga playshops to women in desperate need of a sacred retreat.

Can you share some of your favorite sacred feminine rituals?

My life is a sacred feminine ritual! My personal recipe to empower the goddess within includes creating a sacred feminine environment, honoring my body with super-foods, practicing yoga, belly dancing, painting, body work, writing, engaging in wise women circles, and spending as much time as possible with my family exploring Michigan's Leelanau Peninsula and the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lake Shore.

Is there a particular Goddess that you are intimately drawn to and why?

I am drawn to several but at the moment, I am deeply resonating with Goddess Saraswati because she represents wisdom, spirituality, education and the arts. She is unconventional and exudes feminine sovereignty.  My favorite quote and another reason why I resonate with Saraswati energy is: “Saraswati women are unconventional, not so much because they break the rules, but because they don't notice the rules are even there.” – Sally Kempton

Saraswati is not a traditional wife, friend or partner. She has a deep respect for inspiration and deep spiritual connection. She invites everyone to identify with the parts of themselves that resonate with an often solitary, deeply connected knowing. She is the ‘Flowing One' and teaches us the importance of of learning to trust and surrender – to go with the flow of life. She is with us in the light of the moon, rising tides and the tumbling rush of waterfalls.

Is there a personal message that you would like to share with women?

You are a woman. You deserve to be lovingly adored. You represent Divinely Feminine energy. You are a Goddess. You deserve a rich and full spiritual awakening.

It's time to let go of rigidity, martyrdom and useless excuses. You must let go of the things that no longer serve you well. You deserve to allow more of your sacred feminine experience to be informed and illustrated by your creativity, spirituality, femininity and your Unique Worldview

When you give yourself permission to liberate your inner Goddess, you will receive Grace, Divine connection and Heavenly abundance. You are enough. You matter. You are loved. Know that you are exactly where you need to be at exactly the right moment.  Develop a healthy sense of your Goddess Self and you will transform your precious life.
